Basic Summary – Wade Wilson (Ryan Reynolds) is a former Special Forces operative who now works as a mercenary. His world comes crashing down when evil scientist Ajax (Ed Skrein) tortures, disfigures and transforms him into Deadpool. The rogue experiment leaves Deadpool with accelerated healing powers and a twisted sense of humor. With help from mutant allies Colossus and Negasonic Teenage Warhead (Brianna Hildebrand), Deadpool uses his new skills to hunt down the man who nearly destroyed his life.
Okay, let’s be honest here. I was worried when I first heard about this film because this is a pretty hilarious character and to mess it up AGAIN would just be a nail in the coffin. Thankfully, someone figured out how to make a great Deadpool film.
I was really enjoying this film. I especially love that it came out on Valentine’s Day. Thank Goodness because I’m tired of cheesy romance films coming out on that day. The acting in this film is astounding. I’m glad Ryan Reynolds plays Deadpool because he is completely amazing and embraces the role. And even has fun with it outside of the film.
The story itself is pretty simple – guy meet girl, guy gets powers of some sort, guy must rescue girl. I like the simplicity of the story because it gives more room for 4th wall breaks and jokes along the way. However, the film itself does have flaws. It falls on the supporting cast mostly. There meant to be supporting – yes – but also supposed to have some depth. I feel like they just kinda gave up. But it is a small flaw in the overall story.
Totally worth watching this film. I would even say buy it because it is pretty darn amazing.
